Go to Southern Independent Booksellers Alliance for details and online submission link. Like I said in my letter, I believe in you, friends. Good luck! 💕Author Sarah McCoy, (Mustique Island) wrote a personal letter encouraging eligible SIBA bookseller/writers to apply for the new grant she is sponsoring with SIBA. She writes, "It’s been a lifelong dream of mine to be able to give back financially to the community of book people who have given so much time, energy, and compassion to me. The McCoy Grant is a love letter to you. So, I hope you take the opportunity to submit before the upcoming deadline.

Trust me when I say that no effort is small if you have a dream. I’m a woman who believes in the power of positive multiplicity. Every word is a precious stone. One by one, they build castles, create reserves, and fortify our imaginations. If you are an unpublished, southern writer with a stack of words, don’t worry that they aren’t enough. Take a step of faith. Go to SIBA’s online application form. You never know what wonders you might unleash. I believe in you."

Two grants of $1,500 each will be awarded to unpublished Southern women or nonbinary booksellers who harbor ambitions to be published writers. Read more and find all the grant details, including eligibility at loom.ly/FrV5LuU

PHENOMENAL WOMAN: MAYA ANGELOU performance shared with a phenomenal woman Best of Winston entrepreneur and bestofwinston.bookclub hostess Anne Glenn.

I don’t often write reviews. It’s a dicey move for an artist to judge another artist. In this case, however, I felt compelled.

⭐️This show is magnificent.⭐️

A classic stage play with song, dance, poetry, spoken word, and a caliber of acting that had me feeling Maya Angelou’s spirit in each three manifestations of her storied life. I cried. I laughed. I quoted Angelou alongside fellow audience members, swayed to jazz, and whispered prayers of gratitude to be in the company of this brilliant production. It’s inspired me to read Miss Maya again (aloud): “Be a rainbow in someone else’s cloud.” This show has all the elements of a legacy.

Playwright @Angelicacheri has done the Queen of Honeybees Angelou proud. Director @jackienolanyc and the cast of the NC Black Rep are on a path to Broadway. If all goes according to plan, that’s exactly where you’ll see this show next. It was an honor to be in the audience for its world premiere in Angelou’s hometown, Winston-Salem, NC. Bravo to all!

Loved reading your review and the Maya Angelou’s amazing poem. I hope this play comes to DC. I definitely will be on the lookout for it.

I agree wholeheartedly. I was moved by the story and the acting out of the life of Maya Angelou, truly a phenomenal woman. I hope it will go to Broadway so that more people will get the opportunity to enjoy it too.
