Sarah McCoy capped off the 2019 Book & Bites literary season with a packed banquet room of kindred spirits. Sponsored by the Friends of the Mountain Branch Library at the Lake Lure Inn & Spa, the luncheon featured McCoy’s latest novel “Marilla of Green Gables,” a tale of life at Green Gables . . . before Anne Shirley. This moving historical novel, set in rural Prince Edward Island in the nineteenth century, imagines the young life of spinster Marilla Cuthbert.
Bookmarked with Sarah McCoy welcomes New York Times bestselling author Martha Hall Kelly for conversation about her new book, THE LOST ROSES, the prequel to her superstar bestseller THE LILAC GIRLS. On the show, good friends Sarah and Martha discuss her work but also the annual Bookmarks Festival for which Martha was visiting Winston-Salem.
Martha Hall Kelly is the New York Times bestselling author of Lilac Girls released on April 5, 2016. A New England native, became captivated with the story of fellow Connecticut resident Caroline Ferriday’s fight to help the fifty Polish survivors of Ravensbruck known as “The Rabbits.” The search for the true story took Martha across the globe, to Caroline’s three archives in Connecticut, Washington D.C. and Nanterre, France. Kelly is the mother of three. She now lives in Connecticut with her husband Michael.
